How to connect the Telegram bot

Here is how to connect the Telegram bot: open "Settings" in the service, find the "Telegram" block, press "Connect Telegram" and, in the chat that opens, press "Start". After that, messages about your trades arrive in Telegram. It is an optional step: trading does not need it, only notifications do.

What it gives you

The Snapback Telegram bot is a notification channel. It sends messages about the stages of a trade, so you do not have to keep the Trades page open. You cannot control bots through Telegram: everything is configured on the website.

Step by step

  1. In the menu on the left, choose "Settings".
  2. Find the "Telegram" block.
  3. Press the "Connect Telegram" button. It opens the Telegram bot in the app or in the browser.
  4. In the chat with the bot, press "Start". The bot links to your account in the service.
  5. Back on the Settings page, you will see "Connected" and a chat number.

The button leads to a personal link with a one-time code. That code is what links your account, so do not forward the link to anyone.

Which messages arrive

Every message includes the bot's name, the coin and a link to the coin's futures page on Binance.

  • SHORT ORDER PLACED: the entry order has been placed. It is not a trade yet: you see the entry price, size, leverage, stop and take-profits.
  • SHORT OPENED: the order filled and the position exists.
  • TAKE-PROFIT 1, TAKE-PROFIT 2...: a take profit filled. The position is still open; the price, size and result of that part are shown.
  • BREAKEVEN STOP: the stop was moved to the entry price (adjusted for fees), see how a breakeven stop loss works.
  • CLOSED: the trade is finished. It shows the reason (all take-profits, breakeven, stop, stop after a take-profit, forced close, or "could not protect - closed at market"), entry, exit, size, result, fees, funding and the net result. A green tick or red cross shows the sign of the net result.
  • CANCELLED ON TIMEOUT: the entry order did not fill within the allowed time. There was no trade.
  • CANCELLED (DAILY LOSS LIMIT): the order was cancelled because the bot was switched off by the daily loss limit.
  • UNRECORDED POSITION FOUND: a position was found on the exchange that the service does not know about. It is a signal to open the Trades page and assign it to a bot.

Can messages be late or lost

The service first writes the message to a queue together with the trade, and a separate process sends it to Telegram. That way a Telegram failure cannot hold up placing an order. The price of this: messages may arrive late. If sending fails, the service tries a few more times and, if that does not work, gives up on the message. If the chat is not linked, messages are simply not sent.

So do not rely on Telegram as your only check. The state of your trades is always visible on the Trades page and on the exchange itself.

If there is no button

Instead of the button, the block may show a note that the Telegram bot has not been set up on the server. That is not an error on your account: notifications are simply unavailable. Trading and the Trades page do not depend on it.

Disconnect

In the "Telegram" block, press "Disconnect". The service removes the chat link and issues a new one-time code, so the old link cannot link the account again. To get notifications back, connect Telegram again.

Why connect Telegram to the trading bot?

To get a message at every stage of a trade: order, short opened, take-profits, stop moved, close. Telegram is not needed for trading itself.

What if there is no Connect Telegram button?

It means the Telegram bot has not been set up on the service side. Notifications are then unavailable, but trading and the Trades page work as usual.

Can the messages be delayed?

Yes. A separate process sends them, so a Telegram failure does not delay orders, but messages can arrive late.

How do I disconnect Telegram?

In the Telegram block of Settings, press Disconnect. The old linking link stops working after that.
