Trading volume filter: a coin's daily turnover on futures

Updated:

The trading volume filter limits which coins the Snapback bot works with, based on each coin's daily turnover on Binance USDT-M futures. A coin whose turnover falls outside every selected range is skipped, even if it has risen far enough.

What it means in plain words

Trading volume shows how lively a coin is: how much money passes through its futures contract in a day. Low turnover means a thin market, where relatively small trades can move the price sharply. High turnover means a liquid coin, where such jumps happen less often.

Why it exists

Pumps happen mostly on illiquid coins, but those are also the hardest to exit without slippage. The filter lets you decide whether to trade "thin" coins, "medium" ones or liquid giants, and in which combinations.

How it works in the code

For each coin the bot takes the daily volume in USD (the quote currency, USDT). The ranges are: "<1M", "1-5M", "5-10M", "10-25M", "25-50M", "50-100M" and ">100M", where M means a million dollars. The lower bound is included in a range and the upper bound is not: a turnover of exactly 5,000,000 belongs to "5-10M". If the coin's range is not among the selected ones, the signal is rejected with the reason "volume", and the journal records which range the turnover fell into.

The check comes after the pump threshold and the blacklist, so the reason log is kept only for coins that have already qualified as a pump.

Allowed values and defaults

You can select from one to seven of the ranges above. The code has no default; the list is mandatory and cannot be empty. If you select none in the wizard, it fills in all seven. The form initially ticks "1-5M", "5-10M" and "10-25M": that is only the form's starting choice.

What happens with more or fewer ranges

  • More ranges: the bot considers a wider set of coins and gets more signals.
  • Fewer ranges: a narrower set and fewer signals. With a very narrow choice the bot may go weeks without seeing a suitable coin.

Turnover changes daily, so a coin can move from one range to another: the filter looks at the value at the moment of the signal.

How it connects to other settings

Common mistakes

  • Confusing daily turnover with the coin's price or with the size of your position. It is the turnover of the coin's whole market over a day.
  • Assuming a coin's range is fixed: turnover floats, and a coin moves between ranges.
  • Forgetting that an illiquid coin may not let an entry or take-profit order fill at the price you want.

Where to find it in the bot wizard

The "New bot" or "Edit" form, the "Trading volume" block, captioned "the coin's daily turnover on futures — you can pick several". It is a row of cards with checkboxes: "<1M", "1-5M" and so on.

Frequently asked questions

What does trading volume mean in the bot settings?

It is the total of a coin's trades over the last day on Binance USDT-M futures, expressed in US dollars. The bot trades only coins from the ranges you picked.

Can I select several volume ranges at once?

Yes. The ranges are checkboxes and you can pick several. At least one is required.

What happens if I select no range at all?

The wizard fills in all ranges for you. At the configuration level an empty list is not valid; at least one is needed.

Why was a pumping coin not traded because of volume?

Most likely its daily turnover at the moment of the signal fell into a range you did not pick. The bot's journal records the reason.
