Coin blacklist: which coins the bot will never short

Updated:

The coin blacklist lets you permanently exclude individual coins from shorting: the Snapback bot will not open trades on them, even if they have risen by the required percentage. The list is written as a set of Binance USDT-M contract symbols.

What it means in plain words

It is your personal list of "forbidden" coins. There can be many reasons: a coin with a bad reputation, one that is too volatile, one you already trade by hand, or one you simply do not like. The bot does not ask why; it just ignores those symbols.

Why it exists

The general filters (trading volume, confirmation candle, not-ATH) work by rules, not by a coin's name. The blacklist is the only tool that excludes a coin by name.

How it works in the code

The check happens in the signal detector, once the rise has already reached the threshold. The bot then compares the coin's symbol with the list; the match must be exact, so you must write the full symbol as it is named on the exchange (for example BTCUSDT, not BTC). If the symbol is in the list, the signal is rejected with the reason "blacklist".

When the form is saved, the wizard splits the text on commas and line breaks, trims extra spaces and converts everything to upper case. So "btcusdt, ethusdt" and a "BTCUSDT" line on its own come out the same.

Illustration of the mechanism only, not advice: the list contains "ABCUSDT". If that coin rises 30% and your threshold is 10%, the bot still skips it.

Allowed values and defaults

Any list of symbols; the code does not limit its length. The list is empty by default. The correctness of the symbols is not verified: a misspelled symbol simply never matches any real one.

What happens with a longer or shorter list

  • Longer list: the bot skips more coins and trades less.
  • Empty list: the bot works with every coin that passes the remaining filters.

How it connects to other settings

  • Trading volume: excludes coins by turnover, not by name.
  • Pump threshold: the blacklist is checked only for coins that have already passed this threshold.
  • Coin cooldown: a temporary pause after a trade, whereas the blacklist is permanent.

Common mistakes

  • Writing only the name without the USDT ending: there will be no match.
  • Separating coins with spaces instead of commas: a space is not a separator, so two coins merge into one unknown symbol.
  • Adding a coin to the list and expecting it to affect an already open position.

Where to find it in the bot wizard

The "New bot" or "Edit" form, the "Coin filters" block, at the bottom: the "Coin blacklist" field (multi-line; the hint inside the field is "BTCUSDT, ETHUSDT").

Frequently asked questions

What is a coin blacklist in a trading bot?

It is a list of trading symbols the bot always skips, even when they have risen enough to trigger a signal.

What format should I use for the blacklist?

Full contract symbols, such as BTCUSDT, separated by commas or placed on new lines. Case does not matter; the bot converts everything to upper case.

Do I have to fill in the blacklist?

No. It is empty by default, and then no coin is excluded.

Will the bot close an open trade if I add that coin to the blacklist?

In the code the blacklist is checked while looking for a signal, not while managing an open trade. This check has no separate behavior for positions that are already open.
